Here’s this week’s list of recommended strength and conditioning reading:

Invincible Immunity – This is an article I wrote all the way back in 2002.  While it’s over a decade old now, the information is still valuable, especially with cold and flu season upon us!

Player Interview: Steve Cishek of the Miami Marlins – Current CP intern Jay Kolster interviews long-time CP client and Marlins closer Steve Cishek on everything from pre/post-game routines, to strength and conditioning, to advice for up-and-coming players.  This is excellent stuff.

7 Tips for Dominating Seminars – This was an awesome post from Mike Robertson that everyone in the fitness industry should read prior to attending seminars. It’ll help you guarantee that you’ll get the most of these learning experiences.

  1. Tom Says:

Hi Eric, I had a couple of questions for you regarding strength and conditioning for Triathletes. I was wondering how many days per week would you recommended a Iron Man triathlete to lift? And also along with the first questions, what kind of exercises should a triathlete do in a gym? And what what would the sets and reps look like?

  2. Eric Cressey Says:

    Tom,

In most cases, 2x/week works best. Exercise selection is really dependent on what you find on an assessment.

RE: sets and reps, just remember that they come to the weight room to get strong. Don’t get caught up in the mindset that they just need to do sets of 10-15 reps all the time. We have triathletes that are doing heavy triples pretty frequently!
